
In line with its purpose of helping families live better, Walmart de México y Centroamérica continues to strengthen its commercial relationship with small farmers through its Tierra Fértil program. For several years, this initiative has provided technical support and training to salvadoran farmers, promoting local development and job creation in rural areas of the country.

As part of these actions, the company recently held a training session for 120 producers in the Tierra Fértil program, focused on reinforcing key knowledge for more efficient, safe, and sustainable production.

Among the topics shared were: Occupational health and safety regulations for suppliers and intermediaries, Update on Buenas Prácticas Agrícolas (BPA) Bases para Auditoría y cumplimiento de Buenas Prácticas Agrícolas (BPA). In addition, an introduction to the climatic perspective to anticipate weather conditions and define contingency plans for crop management.

“At Walmart we consider farmers as strategic allies. That is why we work with them through training that allows them to grow as businesses, improve their processes and raise the quality of their production. This translates into offering our customers fresh fruits and vegetables every day, through our Maxi Despensa, Despensa Familiar, Walmart and Despensa de Don Juan stores”, said Enmer García, Walmart’s commercial manager of fruits and vegetables.

This activity reaffirms Walmart’s commitment to continue supporting local producers, not only by purchasing their crops, but also by ensuring that their processes meet standards of safety, quality, and sustainability, for the benefit of salvadoran families.
