A total of 800 meters of primary power line were pruned, benefiting 400 customers, mainly public institutions, and preventing power outages that could affect end users of the public services they provide.
AES CLESA, an AES El Salvador, company, carried out a sustainable tree pruning project in Santa Ana, targeting non-standard vegetation. The project was conducted in coordination with various local institutions, with the goal of reducing electrical hazards and ensuring safer spaces for the community, without disrupting the natural balance of the environment.
During the project, 10 trees that posed a risk to electrical infrastructure, pedestrians, and motorists in the area were pruned. The work was carried out using arboricultural techniques, which allow for the responsible and sustainable maintenance of tree vegetation, prioritizing tree health and road safety.
The activity was supported by the Protección Civil Municipal, 2ª Brigada de Infantería de la FAES, Cuerpo de Agentes Municipales (CAM), Cuerpo de Bomberos de Santa Ana, Clínica Municipal and its ambulance service, the Ornamental Area, Unidad de Desechos Sólidos de la Alcaldía Municipal, and Policía Nacional Civil (PNC).

In addition, the AES CLESA technical team took advantage of the presence of these institutions to carry out critical tree trimming and electrical maintenance in areas that house essential services for the residents of Santa Ana, such as the Emergency and Hospitalization Area of the ISSS, the Regional Directorate of the MINED, the Centro de Atención a la Primera Infancia (CAPI) and the Instituto Nacional de Santa Ana (INSA).

“Our approach isn’t limited to cutting branches or trees. It’s a comprehensive effort that combines road safety, continuity of electrical service, and respect for the environment. We apply arboricultural techniques that aim to preserve the life of the trees while protecting people and infrastructure”, said Jose Lito Rodríguez, Western Region manager of AES El Salvador.
This event marked the first coordinated effort between AES CLESA and the first responders of Santa Ana, strengthening inter-institutional coordination in the face of electrical and environmental risks.

As part of its strategic maintenance and pruning plan, AES CLESA announced that it will conduct an assessment walk on november 19. This will take place in the area between the Ministry of Finance and the El Sauce roundabout (on the road to Metapán), as well as around the Hospital San Juan de Dios in Santa Ana. The objective is to identify new areas requiring intervention to coordinate a future work schedule.
With these actions, AES CLESA reaffirms its commitment to providing safe and continuous energy, prioritizing community safety and environmental preservation.
