FUNDEMAS, in line with its mission to “Create the Best Version of El Salvador” held its first “Conexión Verde” forum today. This effort seeks to connect organizations and people with the environment through good practices, knowledge exchange, and volunteering for the sustainable development of El Salvador.

The initiative aims to connect companies with the impact of environmental sustainability strategies, as well as highlight the scope of their respective developments through initiatives on biodiversity, eco-efficiency, and the circular economy.

With this vision, it organized the “First Green Connection Forum,” during which attendees and participants had access to two presentations: one on waste governance, led by the Autoridad Nacional de residuos Sólidos (ANDRES), and the second on sustainability in waste management, given by FUNDEMAS and The panel “Zero Waste Strategies, Innovation, and Sustainability”.

The first “Conexión Verde” forum is taking place in the context of the commemorations of International Earth Day, celebrated on april 22, and on the eve of International Recycling Day, held every year on may 17. Both dates aim to promote awareness of environmental issues, as well as the importance of adopting business strategies based on sustainability and environmental protection.

“Environmental protection is fundamental for the country and its citizens. Businesses are indispensable allies for the country’s sustainable development, which can encompass actions related to biodiversity, eco-efficiency, risk management, and waste management. Waste management requires a coordinated effort between the government, the private sector, civil society organizations, and citizens. Investing in sustainable waste management is investing in the future of El Salvador” said Maythe Cornejo, Environment Manager at FUNDEMAS, at the conclusion of the first “Conexión Verde” forum.

The “Conexión Verde” initiative will hold a series of forums throughout the year to promote green awareness and good sustainability practices. They are aimed at companies, business and professional associations, academia, cooperation agencies, non-governmental organizations, students, and the public. The first forum featured the participation and experiences of companies such as LA CONSTANCIA, Industrias Plásticas (IPSA), ITL, and MAQUIPLASTIC.

The topics addressed will focus on business sustainability and biodiversity, the circular economy, sustainable tourism, and finance, as well as eco-efficiency. The next forum will take place in june, within the framework of World Environment Day.

Conexión Verde is being supported by organizations such as LA CONSTANCIA, PRODUCTOS DIANA, ITL, and others.
