Last night, the Premio al Trabajo Decente Gala was held, an event that placed the importance of strengthening labor relations as a driver of productive growth in the country at the center of the economic discussion. The ceremony recognized 68 employers who demonstrated an active commitment to practices that prioritize the well-being of their workers, equal opportunities, and the creation of sustainable work environments.
The Ministry of Labor emphasized that decent work is not only a principle of social justice, but also a determining factor for national competitiveness. Companies that guarantee social protection, ongoing dialogue between employers and workers, and decent employment conditions tend to have higher productivity, lower staff turnover, and better indicators of economic stability.
Since the arrival of the current administration, headed by minister Rolando Castro, mediation between workers and employers has been strengthened, and the Consejo Superior de Trabajo (CST), has been reactivated, with the aim of promoting a labor climate favorable to investment and job creation. The institutionalization of tripartite dialogue has made it possible to resolve conflicts, improve negotiation processes, and promote responsible practices in different productive sectors.
The recognition given to the 68 companies comes at a key moment, when the national economy is seeking to consolidate sustained growth. According to the authorities, promoting decent work not only strengthens the business fabric, but also translates into greater competitiveness for the country, attracts investment, and directly improves the incomes of thousands of families.
