As part of the celebration of World Food Day and as part of the “Unidos Alimentamos” Campaign of the Banco de Alimentos de El Salvador, Walmart de México y Centroamérica was awarded the Sello Aliados Por la Alimentación, a recognition granted for the support and sustainable practices that the company has integrated into its business model to contribute to the welfare of salvadoran families in vulnerable situations.
This recognition reaffirms Walmart’s commitment under the “Zero Food Waste” program through which it has rescued to date, more than 4 million pounds of products suitable for consumption, actively participating in initiatives that seek to ensure access to food and essential products for the most vulnerable families.
“This recognition encourages us to continue supporting this cause that contributes to the development of our communities. We will continue to promote sustainable practices and solidarity actions that help improve the quality of life of those who need it most”, said Sandra Cáceres, Corporate Affairs Coordinator for Walmart in El Salvador.
The “Unidos Alimentamos” Campaign achieved an extraordinary donation of 45,817.36 pounds of food and basic necessities, thanks to the support of 15 companies, including Walmart Mexico and Central America. The campaign will benefit more than 42,000 salvadorans through the Asociación Civil Alimentos Solidarios, which manages the Banco de Alimentos.
