“The prices are super affordable and everything is incredibly fresh”, says Cristina Saldaña as she selects her holiday shopping. Like her, Pablo Gámez agrees that the Central de Abastos (CDA) and the Agromercadoshave become the best option for completing the basic food basket this Holy Week 2026.
This government initiative guarantees freshness and savings in one place, thanks to direct management with local producers. By eliminating intermediaries, these sales points offer competitive prices that protect citizens’ wallets, ensuring healthy food for all visitors during Holy Week. The selection includes a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and essential grains for family consumption.

As a major new addition this season, the sales points have incorporated high-quality dried fish and typical fruits such as summer jocotes, mangoes, cashews, citrus fruits, and coconuts. These ingredients are essential for preparing the traditional dishes that characterize the season, allowing culinary traditions to reach every home with authentic salvadoran flavor.
The impact of these centers also extends to the commercial sector. Óscar Doñán, an entrepreneur who buys everything for his restaurant at the CDA emphasizes: “Here I find everything I need with the best quality and at the best price. It’s key to maintaining the profitability of my business without sacrificing the freshness my customers seek”. His testimony reinforces how these spaces benefit both the end consumer and small business owners.

The public can visit the 61 Agromercados from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., or the CDA from 2:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. These strategic centers are the most efficient and economical solution for summer shopping, allowing people to enjoy the best of national products on their tables during these festivities.
