A. M. During the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, held in Seville, Spain, El Salvador reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable economic growth and fiscal stability. Foreign Minister Alexandra Hill highlighted the country’s achievements in security and economic development before world leaders, emphasizing that the structural reforms implemented in recent years are yielding tangible results.
Hill emphasized that El Salvador has overcome historic challenges that previously seemed insurmountable and is now advancing as one of the most promising economies in the hemisphere. The Foreign Minister placed special emphasis on the country’s economic transformation, highlighting responsible policies that balance macroeconomic stability with the protection of the most vulnerable, under a people-centered approach.
One of the highlights was the recent agreement reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which, according to Hill, represents recognition of the soundness of public finances and the clear direction of the economic reforms underway. He also mentioned the implementation of innovative financial instruments such as green bonds and debt-for-development swaps, aimed at financing strategic sectors such as education, healthcare, resilient infrastructure, and energy transition.
The salvadoran foreign minister also highlighted that the country has become a benchmark in tourism, South-South cooperation, and business development. In this context, she reaffirmed that El Salvador is building an economic environment that promotes inclusive growth, equity, and trust, consolidating itself as a model for transformation amid an international system that, in her words, still perpetuates inequalities.
With this vision in mind, Hill urged the leaders present to work toward a more just and representative international financial architecture that respects the sovereignty of countries and responds effectively to the needs of the most vulnerable. “Transformation is possible”, she affirmed, calling for action with determination and vision to change the destiny of nations.
At the same time, within the framework of the conference, the director of the El Salvador Agency for International Cooperation (ESCO), Karla de Palma, participated in a meeting with her counterparts to strengthen multi-level partnerships aimed at social development. These actions reaffirm the country’s commitment to multilateralism and development with dignity.
