The Government of El Salvador presented new business opportunities for national and international suppliers during the Procurement and Contracting Fair 2025, within the framework of projects financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The purpose of the activity was to promote the participation of the private sector in works, goods and services that are essential for the country’s development, contributing to economic reactivation and job creation.

One of the key projects presented was the program to support the recovery and expansion of the tourism sector, presented by the Ministry of Tourism, with an investment of US$106 million. This initiative seeks to improve the national and international competitiveness of the sector through investments in infrastructure, environmental sustainability, tourism innovation, and strengthening of the productive ecosystem, including a gender perspective in its execution.
Among the most important contracting processes is the design and construction of a solid waste transfer plant, programmed under the Licitación Pública Internacional (LPI) modality for the second half of 2025. In addition, the purchase of containers for waste separation is being considered for US$500,000, also promoted at the international level, which opens possibilities for suppliers outside the country.

The Administración Nacional de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (ANDA) also announced a $100 million program to strengthen the water and sanitation sector. According to its president, Jorge Castaneda, this plan represents a key opportunity to modernize the national water system and will be opened to suppliers in July, as part of a strategic commitment to improve the country’s basic infrastructure.
These actions reflect the government’s commitment to sustained economic growth by encouraging private sector participation in high social impact projects. The generation of employment and the attraction of investment, both local and international, are positioned as key drivers to boost the salvadoran economy and advance the country’s comprehensive development.
