San Juan Opico could become a new economic engine for El Salvador with the possible installation of an industrial zone that is expected to attract an initial investment of between US$25 and US$30 million. Although the project is still in the study phase, the developers have already acquired the land and are moving forward with the design of the complex, with a view to generating employment and strengthening the country’s productive sector.

The project, located in San Juan Opico, will seek to turn the area into an industrial development pole, attracting companies that will drive economic growth and generate job opportunities. “We are already inside the mythology, in advanced studies. We will soon reveal more details, including the official name of the complex”, said Rodrigo Hurtarte Solís, another of the partners involved.

The industrial zone could benefit El Salvador by attracting new industries and strengthening the business ecosystem. In addition to generating employment, the project would have a positive impact on infrastructure and the local economy by attracting suppliers and complementary services.

According to the investors, which include Marcelo Timo, in addition to Premier Zaragoza, the developer has new projects in the country. It plans to invest between US$50 million and US$100 million by 2030 in various areas, including housing developments and industrial parks that will improve logistical connectivity within and outside the country. All of this will depend on key factors such as the expediting of licenses and land contributions. “Everything will depend on the speed with which these processes are managed, but the expectation is that in the next three to five years important phases can be materialized”, Timo explained.

As the project progresses, it is expected that more details will be revealed about the companies interested in operating within the industrial complex and the economic benefits it will bring to El Salvador. With this type of initiative, the country continues to consolidate itself as an attractive destination for productive investment in the region.
