The Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) has extended the distribution of “Lechero Plus Fórmula + 18%” dairy feed concentrate to producers in Usulután at a preferential price of US$14 per sack. This initiative is part of a support package for the livestock sector aimed at addressing challenges caused by the El Niño phenomenon.
The initiative seeks to help reduce production costs for cattle farmers, particularly given the reduced availability of pasture in grazing areas. This allows producers to access a nutritional supplement to maintain their cattle’s diet during the lactation period.
According to the information provided, the formula is designed to stimulate and sustain high milk production within the herd. Furthermore, its use helps increase the total solids content of the final product and prevents cows from losing weight during the lactation stage.

The preferential price represents savings for producers, as the regular market price for this type of specialized input exceeds US$20 per sack. Through this MAG-led distribution, farmers can purchase it for US$14, thereby lowering animal feed expenses.
To access this benefit, producers must present their Documento Único de Identidad (DUI) and a valid livestock brand registration certificate. The latter document legally certifies the farmers as active producers.
During the event in Usulután, producers Jaime Valdez and Pedro Velásquez highlighted the impact of this support on maintaining their dairy cattle. Both noted that the concentrate’s price is affordable compared to the cost of other 18% protein formulas available on the market.

This support aims to address the difficulties facing the agricultural and livestock sector due to weather conditions associated with El Niño, particularly its impact on the availability of cattle feed.
With this measure, the government seeks to reduce cost pressures on livestock producers, contribute to the proper care of dairy animals, and support food production for the salvadoran population.
