The Finance and Special Budget Commission of the Legislative Assembly continues its work of analysis for the approval of the State Budget Law 2025. During the meetings, the minister of Economy, María Luisa Hayem, presented the details of the budget requested for her portfolio, which amounts to US$75,210,044.
Of this amount, US$9,211,321 will be allocated to the Secretariat of State, US$31,543,323 to affiliated institutions, and US$34,455,400 will be used for public investment projects. According to the minister, 46% of the budget will be oriented to initiatives that have a direct impact on the population. Among the priority programs, US$10,465,520 will be earmarked for the simplification and digitalization of procedures, in order to promote business growth and job creation.
In addition, US$4,662,975 will be allocated to the Investment Facilitation, Promotion, and Attraction Program, while US$2,530,000 will be used to improve the digitalization of customs control. In addition, US$5,000,000 will be used to promote entrepreneurship opportunities, strengthening the country’s economic ecosystem.
CONAMYPE will receive US$5,654,668 to provide technical assistance and financial training to micro and small enterprises. The Consumer Protection Agency will receive US$5,379,371 to continue its inspections and measures to protect the prices of basic products.
An important project will be employability, with an investment of US$7,811,650 to benefit 40,000 people with training and tools to access formal jobs. This program will begin in the first quarter of 2025 and seeks to enhance the job skills of salvadorans.
Minister Hayem said that these efforts seek to consolidate the country’s economic growth. “More than one million people are already employed in the formal economy, according to figures from the Ministry of Labor”, she said.
Congressman Caleb Navarro expressed confidence in these initiatives and highlighted achievements in other areas. “Just as we have gone from being the most dangerous country to one of the safest, with the leadership of President Bukele, we believe that we will also achieve this economic miracle that we expect”, he assured.
With these actions, the Ministry of Economy seeks to promote a comprehensive development that promotes business growth, job creation and the welfare of the population.
