The Government of El Salvador, under the administration of President Nayib Bukele, has successfully implemented two loans with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) totaling US$100 million, the Minister of Housing announced via X. The funds have been used transparently and efficiently, seeking to strengthen access to decent housing for salvadorans.
According to the Minister, these resources have financed projects that promote housing construction, as well as accessible credit programs for families of varying income levels. Transparency has been prioritized in loan management, ensuring that every dollar reaches concrete and measurable projects.

Furthermore, the Ministry is currently working on a comprehensive new project that will expand financing options. This initiative will combine long- and short-term loans, aiming to cover all the needs of the housing sector: from incentivizing the construction of new homes to offering affordable payment options for salvadorans with lower incomes.
The minister hinted that “big news” will be announced soon, suggesting the presentation of new financing schemes or the signing of additional agreements with international organizations to further expand access to housing.

With these steps, the Bukele administration seeks to consolidate a more inclusive and sustainable housing model that not only promotes construction but also makes it easier for families to acquire their own homes without compromising their economic stability.
