Member banks of the Asociación Bancaria Salvadoreña (ABANSA) registered a 10.7% year-over-year increase in their assets as of june 2026, reaching a total of US$29,523.9 million. This represents an increase of US$2,859.0 million compared to the US$26,664.9 million reported in june 2025.
The increase reflects the expansion of the banking system over the past year, and the growth of resources managed by financial institutions. Assets include items such as loan portfolios, investments, cash, and other resources that are part of the banks’ operations.

According to ABANSA, the sustained growth of assets is related to public confidence in the financial system and the banks’ ability to continue serving the needs of households and businesses. Greater availability of resources allows the financial system to maintain its role as a conduit for funds for different economic activities.
For families, this translates into a greater capacity of the system to offer financial products and services, while for businesses it represents support in accessing financing for operations, investment, and expansion. In this way, the performance of banking assets is also linked to the country’s economic activity.

The 10.7% growth recorded through june thus demonstrates a significant expansion of ABANSA’s member banks compared to the same period in 2025. With assets of US$29,523.9 million, the system continues to play an important role in mobilizing resources and financing families and businesses in El Salvador.
