El Salvador is increasingly positioning itself as a top-tier tourist destination, as recent figures confirm. The Ministerio de Turismo (Mitur) has revealed that an impressive 70% of travelers arriving at El Aeropuerto Internacional de El Salvador head directly to the beach corridor known as Surf City, consolidating this area as the country’s main tourist attraction.

This data underscores the success of the promotion and development strategies implemented for the coastal region. Tourism minister Morena Valdez emphasized that of this high percentage of visitors, nearly 50% are salvadorans residing abroad. This significant influx of the diaspora demonstrates the strong connection that salvadorans have with their homeland, seeking to reconnect with their roots and enjoy the natural beauty the country offers. The arrival of these Salvadorans is a fundamental pillar for the local economy.

The recent announcement came during the opening of a new Pollo Campero restaurant in San Marino Plaza, in La Libertad Costa, a project that represents a two-million-dollar investment. This type of initiative reflects the private sector’s confidence in the area’s development potential.

Pollo Campero senior operations Manager, Eduardo Ramos, noted that this new restaurant will contribute to the economic revitalization of the area. This new restaurant not only offers a modern and spacious space for 130 people, but has also created 50 new jobs, directly benefiting the community. Investment in infrastructure and services is crucial to sustain tourism growth and ensure a quality experience for visitors, both domestic and international.

The government has highlighted the importance of iconic brands like Pollo Campero to salvadorans abroad, who often miss them deeply. In fact, one of the most common items seen in the carry-on luggage of compatriots returning home is, precisely, products from this famous brand. This tourism boom, driven by the diaspora and private investment, not only strengthens the country’s image internationally but also generates a positive and tangible impact on local communities through job creation and sustainable economic development in and around Surf City.
