The Director General of Customs, Benjamín Mayorga, reported that in august, tax benefits totaling approximately US$3 million were granted to salvadorans returning to the country under the Special Law on Benefits and Protection for the Diaspora and People in Human Mobility.

This regulation allows citizens to return regardless of their legal status and access up to US$100,000 to start businesses, as well as import up to two vehicles for personal or industrial use, fostering new sources of income and economic reintegration.

In august, more than 300 families began the return process, managed through the Ministry of Immigration, consolidating interest in taking advantage of these incentives. Mayorga emphasized that, although this represents a fiscal impact, the resources translate into direct benefits for the population, promoting investment, entrepreneurship, and economic development.
