The Government of El Salvador, through the Instituto Salvadoreño de Turismo (ISTU), continues its commitment to economic development and the revitalization of public spaces with a tourist vision. This week will see the inauguration of the new San Sebastián Tourist Terminal, in San Vicente, a project that not only promotes healthy recreation, but also boosts the local economy by integrating heritage, culture and entrepreneurship.

The terminal will have an interpretive center where visitors will be able to learn, in an interactive way, about the history of San Sebastián and its craft traditions, especially the emblematic palanca looms. “This space will make it possible to promote this heritage and preserve what identifies San Sebastián”, said ISTU president Eny Aguiñada, who also underscored the educational and cultural value of the project.
One of the most important components of the project will be the commercial showcase that will allow local artisans to offer their products directly to tourists. Each commercial space will bear the name of the textile company that made it, reinforcing the recognition of artisan work and generating income opportunities for dozens of families. This initiative seeks to support salvadoran talent and promote sustainable economic development.

Aguiñada also pointed out that the terminal will connect with other nearby tourist destinations, such as the Amapulapa parks and the Apastepeque lagoon, strengthening the tourism offer of the paracentral zone of the country. In addition, coffee from the eastern region will be promoted as part of an integral experience that unites nature, culture, and economy.
With this type of projects, the Government reaffirms its commitment to build a modern, accessible, and territorially focused infrastructure that will boost the economy from the communities, promote domestic and international tourism, and place El Salvador as a regional reference in tourism and cultural development.
