The Government of El Salvador, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in coordination with Royal Caribbean, held a job interview program to select salvadorans who wish to work on international cruise ships. This initiative is part of the Labor Mobility Program, which promotes employment abroad.

This program, supported by the United States government, seeks to promote orderly, safe, and regular migration by providing temporary economic opportunities to people interested in positions such as assistants in public areas, food and beverages, and restaurants.

According to Elsy Vásquez, Director of Diaspora and Cultural Promotion, this is a key initiative for the economic development of participants, who not only gain international work experience but also financial advice for their return to the country.

The selected salvadorans will work with a Crew Member visa, granted by the U.S. government to maritime crew members. This category allows them to legally operate on Royal Caribbean vessels around the world.

In addition to strengthening job skills, the program provides training for employees to manage their income, encouraging savings, investment, and the development of family businesses in El Salvador.

Royal Caribbean highlighted the commitment of the Salvadorans, who, for the third consecutive year, have been selected for their performance and dedication. A priority is also given to candidates’ fluency in english to effectively perform their duties.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that the process is completely free, with no intermediaries or fees for consulting services. Participants like Kevin Martínez affirmed that this is an opportunity to improve their living conditions and be part of an internationally prestigious company.
