The president of the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA), Federico Anliker, reported that El Salvador is making progress in attracting new airlines and increasing flight frequencies, as part of a strategy to consolidate the growth of the aviation sector and strengthen the country’s international connectivity.
During an interview on the program “Frente a Frente,” Anliker highlighted that Frontier Airlines will reactivate four flights this December, after previously operating only one, reflecting the sustained increase in passenger demand and the dynamism of the salvadoran air travel market.

He also noted that talks are underway with the spanish airline Iberojet to establish direct flights from El Salvador to Madrid and Barcelona, which would expand connectivity with Europe and open new opportunities for tourism, trade, and investment.
“The growth we are experiencing in passengers and cargo has sparked the interest of more airlines. We are working to diversify routes and increase frequencies, which strengthens the country’s competitiveness as a regional hub”, Anliker said.

According to CEPA data, El Salvador is registering double-digit growth in the aviation sector, both in passenger and air cargo traffic. For the peak season in december, the movement of approximately 800,000 passengers is projected, including arrivals, departures, and connecting flights.
The head of CEPA highlighted that this favorable environment has been key to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) choosing El Salvador to host Aviation Day, where industry leaders discussed the future of air transport and expansion opportunities in the region.
Anliker emphasized that the arrival of new airlines is supported by investments in airport infrastructure, improvements in immigration and customs processes, and inter-institutional coordination that allows for more agile and efficient operations.
With these actions, El Salvador seeks to consolidate its position as a strategic air connection point, attract more international operators, and generate a positive impact on the economy, tourism, and employment.
