The total assets of banks in the salvadoran financial system reached US$2,675.7 million, registering an increase of US$115.6 million, which is equivalent to a growth of 4.5% compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the Asociación Bancaria Salvadoreña (ABANSA). This increase reflects the strengthening of the banking sector in the country, driven by higher levels of capitalization and confidence in the financial system.
Banco Agrícola is the sector leader, with assets of US$637.4 million, representing 23.8% of the total. It is followed by Banco Cuscatlán, with US$461.5 million and a 17.2% share, while Davivienda is in third place with assets of US$368.5 million, equivalent to 13.8% of the total.
Smaller banks also recorded advances in their assets. Integral reported a balance of US$38.9 million, while ABANK closed with US$35.9 million. These figures show sustained growth in most financial institutions, contributing to the soundness of the system.
The overall increase in assets is attributed, in part, to the increase in deposits and the diversification of financial products. In addition, expansion and technological modernization policies have allowed banks to maintain a competitive position in the market.
With this growth, the salvadoran banking sector shows a positive outlook, consolidating itself as a key pillar for the country’s economic development and the financing of new investments.
