The Government, through the Defensoría del Consumidor, has intensified inspections in stores during “Black Friday” to ensure that promotions and offers are real and transparent. Inspection teams have been deployed in stores of furniture, appliances, footwear, clothing, makeup, accessories and restaurants, since early in the morning.
According to Ricardo Salazar, president of the Defensoría del Consumidor, these verifications seek to prevent consumers from being victims of misleading advertising or false promotions. Salazar stressed the importance of shoppers being informed about prices and offers available to make the right decisions.
The actions are not limited to the specific day of “Black Friday”, since, according to the official, the period of offers has been extended throughout november in recent years. This has led to constant monitoring by the authorities to ensure compliance with the Consumer Protection Law, which defines and sanctions abusive practices.
The Defensoría del Consumidor recommends consumers to carefully review the details of promotions and verify the products before purchasing them. In case of finding anomalies, complaints can be made by calling 910 or through WhatsApp 7844-1482.
Additionally, buyers can access the website Compara (https://precompra.defensoria.gob.sv/compara), a tool that allows them to verify prices and compare products, reducing the risk of being deceived.
The Government reiterates its commitment to the protection of consumer rights, ensuring the legality and clarity of offers and promoting the dissemination of key information during this shopping season.
