The General Producer Price Index (PPI) registered a slight increase in january 2025, reaching 134.92 points, representing a monthly variation of 0.42% compared to december 2024. In annual terms, the variation of the index stood at 2.88%, while cumulative inflation was 0.42%, reflecting a start of the year with moderate adjustments in producer sector prices.

The price increase in january was mainly driven by the education sector, which registered a 3.28% rise, followed by transportation with 0.61% and human health activities which registered 0.58%. These increases reflect the seasonal trend of costs in essential services, which are usually adjusted at the beginning of each year.
Some sectors showed price reductions. Telecommunications decreased -0.01%, gas, steam and air supplies decreased -0.30%, and administrative service activities had a drop of -0.64%. These reductions may respond to competition factors, production costs or adjustments in demand.

Although the overall increase in prices has been slight, sectoral behavior reflects the dynamics of the economy in the first months of the year. Increases in education, transportation and health may be linked to tariff adjustments and seasonal demands, while declines in other sectors could be due to market strategies or regulations.
The january 2025 PPI suggests stability in producer sector prices, with moderate variations and no signs of uncontrolled inflation.
