
The Ministry of Finance submitted a proposal to the Finance and Special Budget Committee to authorize a loan agreement with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for up to US$170 million. The request is currently in its first stage of legislative review.
The funds would be used to finance territorial development projects, strengthen the local economy, and improve the provision of public services. Priorities include:
• Improvements to urban infrastructure in various districts throughout the country.
• Modernization and renovation of municipal markets.
• Comprehensive interventions in central areas of the districts of Santa Tecla and La Libertad, including the markets of La Libertad Sur and La Libertad Costa.

Development of projects that facilitate mobility, commercial activity, and community economic growth.
According to the Ministry, this funding will boost local production, generate employment, and promote more organized, safe, and competitive urban environments, in line with the revitalization of public spaces and regional economic development.
The proposal will continue to be analyzed within the committee before being submitted for discussion in the full legislature.
