The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Rolando Castro, announced the sending of a new group of salvadoran workers to Canada, as part of the Labor Migration Program implemented by the Government of El Salvador. This group, the fifth so far this year, will travel with two-year temporary visas to the provinces of Quebec and Ontario, where they will work in sectors such as agriculture and cleaning.
Castro said that this program provides a safe and legal alternative for salvadorans seeking to work abroad, avoiding the dangers associated with irregular migration. “Today, people do not have to take the risk of crossing a dangerous river. With our Labor Migration Program, they can now choose to work in Canada legally and safely”, said the official.
The minister also pointed out the circular nature of these jobs, which means that workers will be able to return to the country after completing their work period in Canada. In addition, he assured that salvadorans benefiting from the program will have access to all the rights and benefits that Canadian law grants to its citizens, including access to health care.
Angela Fortis, one of the beneficiaries of the program, expressed her gratitude for considering and benefiting so many people with this project that is changing the lives of hundreds of salvadorans.
This effort of the Government of El Salvador seeks to offer safe and dignified job opportunities for compatriots, strengthening the ties of cooperation between both countries and contributing to the economic development of salvadoran families.
