Construction of the JW Marriott San Salvador continues to advance, reaching a new milestone with the unveiling of its first model rooms. This event offers a first look at the design, finishes, and overall experience that the future luxury hotel, currently being developed next to Multiplaza will provide. The project is part of a mixed-use complex driven by Grupo Poma and Grupo Roble, which will also feature offices, new residential towers, an expansion of the shopping mall, a theater, and a chapel.
During a tour of the model rooms, Fernando Poma, President of Real Hotels & Resorts and Chairman of the Board of Grupo Poma highlighted that the initiative is part of a vision for the city conceived over two decades ago by his father, Ricardo Poma. “We are not just building a hotel; we are continuing a vision for the city”, he said.

The visit showed the hotel’s first completed spaces, including a single room and a double room. These reflect the concepts of luxury, well-being, and hospitality that will define the JW Marriott brand one of the most exclusive in Marriott International’s portfolio.
A strategic project for tourism and investment
The JW Marriott San Salvador will be the 25th hotel for Real Hotels & Resorts and the third JW Marriott-branded property operated by the company, following locations in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, and Bogotá, Colombia.

Poma noted that Real Hotels & Resorts was the first independent operator worldwide authorized to develop and manage a JW Marriott hotel outside of Marriott International a relationship that began with the JW Marriott Guanacaste and later expanded to Colombia. Now, El Salvador joins this select international portfolio.
“This marks the arrival in El Salvador of one of the most renowned international luxury brands, characterized by a distinctive philosophy and specific standards regarding service, design, well-being, and the guest experience”, he said.
Currently, the JW Marriott brand has nearly 125 hotels across 40 countries and territories, establishing itself as a global benchmark in the luxury segment.

A luxury hotel with 186 rooms
The new hotel will feature 186 rooms, comprising 111 single rooms, 61 doubles, 13 suites, and a Presidential Suite. The building will have 16 levels above ground and three underground levels dedicated to parking and service areas.
The construction will span approximately 37,192 square meters and incorporate infrastructure designed for international guests, corporate travelers, and local visitors alike.

“We want to build the most luxurious hotel in El Salvador and one of the premier hotels in Central America”, Poma said during the presentation.
International design and finishes
The model rooms showcase some of the materials selected for the project; sourced from various countries, they are chosen to deliver a high-end experience.
Notable finishes include floors and walls clad in Italian Calacatta Caldia marble, natural walnut flooring, handcrafted 100% wool rugs, corridor carpeting made from New Zealand wool, natural wood furniture, and fabrics imported from Turkey, India, and other markets.

The bathrooms will feature German Hansgrohe fixtures and English Victoria and Albert bathtubs, elements that are part of the luxury offering defining the property.
“These are details that might not always be noticed at first glance, but they make a significant difference in the quality of a room and, above all, in the experience we aim to provide”, Poma explained.
Dining, wellness, and entertainment
The hotel’s culinary offerings will consist of three restaurants with distinct concepts: NAU Sushi Lounge, Factory Steak & Lobster, and The Market.

Additionally, there will be two bars: one located in the lobby within the NAU restaurant, and another, named BLU, situated by the pool on the third level.
A significant part of the wellness and entertainment offering will be concentrated precisely on this level, featuring two pools one outdoor and one private pool linked to the spa, a gym equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and Presence Spa, which will include four treatment rooms, a sauna, and a steam room.
The hotel will also feature an Executive Lounge on the 15th floor, offering guests panoramic views of the city.
Event and meeting spaces

One of the project’s key components will be its infrastructure for meetings, conventions, and corporate events.
The property will feature three separate function rooms, a spacious pre-function area, a large ballroom divided into three spaces, and a business center. The offering will be complemented by a theater, which will be part of the comprehensive development surrounding Multiplaza.
Additionally, the project will include two levels of underground parking with a capacity for 354 vehicles.
A development that expands the city’s offerings
As Fernando Poma explained, the JW Marriott San Salvador will not replace the InterContinental San Salvador, also operated by Real Hotels & Resorts, but will instead cater to a different demand in another part of the capital.

“They are complementary offerings,” he stated, highlighting that the company continues to invest in both hotels and in various areas of the city.
He also noted that guests will have immediate access to over 230 establishments within the Multiplaza complex, including shops, restaurants, movie theaters, and other entertainment and cultural options.
Scheduled opening in 2028
During the presentation, Poma clarified that the display of model rooms represents just a first glimpse of the future hotel.
“We expect the JW Marriott San Salvador to open its doors during the third quarter of 2028”, he indicated.

The executive noted that the project aims to become a benchmark for luxury, service, and hospitality in the country, while also strengthening El Salvador’s tourism and business offerings.
“We want this hotel to be a benchmark for luxury, service, and hospitality. We want it to be a source of pride for salvadorans and to help show the world everything El Salvador has to offer”, he concluded.
