With the remodeling and equipping of the school in canton La Virgen, district of Tepetitán, in San Vicente Sur, the DOM added this weekend more than 36 projects that are changing the lives of the inhabitants of the department of San Vicente.

This school is part of the project: “Dos Escuelas por Día”, the largest investment in education in the history of the country promoted by President Nayib Bukele and which has generated more than 3 thousand jobs.

El Salvador is one of the few countries that provides laptops and tablets to each student for their learning process.

With this vision, the DOM is carrying out the simultaneous reconstruction of more than 100 schools throughout the country, of which 12 have already been delivered.
The project in the canton of La Virgen consists of rehabilitating and equipping four modules totaling four classrooms, management areas, kitchen, restrooms, and walkways, among others, to provide decent and appropriate conditions for students from kindergarten to sixth grade.

The reconstruction of the school will begin with the partial demolition of damaged infrastructure such as cracked walls, floors, and sidewalks; roofs, paint, doors, windows, electrical installations, and hydraulic systems will be replaced.

Signage, evacuation routes, free internet, security, and fire prevention systems will be improved, drinking fountains will be readapted, rainwater gutters and downspouts will be installed, roofs will have thermo-acoustic roofing to regulate heat and noise, playgrounds will be rebuilt and perimeter walls will be reinforced with cyclone mesh, among others.
This is the second school center that the DOM is rebuilding in San Vicente; the first one is under construction in the district of Santo Domingo, while in San Ildefonso, the remodeling of two other schools is being processed.
In addition, in Tepetitán, DOM crews are reconstructing 2.5 kilometers of concrete surface of a street that connects the canton of La Virgen with the urban area of the district.

Likewise, progress is being made in the restoration and enhancement of the district’s municipal recreational and tourist complex.
As in education, the DOM has completed works that have become real attractions of the city, such as the revitalization of the historic center of San Vicente, which included the central park with its emblematic tower, the Vincentian cathedral, the façade of the El Pilar church and the Álvaro Quiñónez y Osorio small square, as well as the streets surrounding this attractive area.
