The salvadoran government has launched Plan Verano, a comprehensive security and protection strategy designed to safeguard the salvadoran population during the Easter Week period. This initiative, coordinated by the National Civil Protection Commission, contemplates prevention, control, surveillance, and immediate response actions in different points of the country, including beaches, highways, recreational parks, and religious events.

Luis Alonso Amaya, director of Civil Protection, informed that more than 100,000 people will be involved in the execution of the plan, including personnel from government institutions and relief corps. “They are a very important partner in terms of pre-hospital care, search and rescue”, said the official.
The plan contemplates the use of mechanical resources, infrastructure, and air and ground transportation means, to ensure an effective response to any eventuality. In addition, the presence of security teams has been confirmed in all mass activities and tourist destinations, with special emphasis on coastal areas.

The deployment includes 342 lifeguards distributed in 31 beaches, seven recreational parks and lakes in the country. This is in addition to the support of the public health system, with the availability of 41 hospitals, 15 ISSS medical units and 183 Fosalud health centers, some of them with 24-hour attention.
The Government expects to receive more than 135,000 international tourists and more than 200,000 visitors in public recreational parks. The inter-institutional coordination seeks to provide optimal conditions for the population to enjoy a safe and peaceful Easter Week.

The minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, highlighted the positive impact of the level 1 travel advisory granted by the United States. “This has increased the visit of tourists not only from the diaspora, but also from other nationalities, which represents income of more than $100 million in foreign currency for the country”, she concluded.
