The minister of Public Works, Romeo Rodríguez, provided details on the works being carried out on the Panamerican highway, specifically on the Los Chorros section. During a press conference, Rodriguez explained that a series of interventions are being carried out on the crown of the slope, to dislodge material and reduce the slope of the road, which will allow the passage to the west of the country to be enabled again.

The work, which involves about seven slopes, is crucial to guarantee the safety and stability of the area. The minister indicated that the work is not only limited to the rehabilitation of the berm, but that drainage and spillways are also being implemented to prevent future landslides. These measures are necessary to ensure that traffic flows safely along this important route.

At this moment, the Ministry of Public Works is intervening three slopes simultaneously to speed up the process and reduce waiting times for drivers. The priority is to reestablish the passage to the west, which is one of the main commercial routes of the country, which makes this intervention urgent.

Rodríguez also pointed out that, while repairs are being carried out on this stretch, the Ministry has enabled several alternate routes for drivers. The roads to Quezaltepeque, Constitución, the road to El Boquerón and the route to Comasagua are presented as viable options for those who need to travel through this area, avoiding the affected section.

The head of Public Works also mentioned that, together with the transportation authorities, they are making sure that the public transportation service to the west works normally and that the authorized fares are maintained. Measures are being taken to verify that the services are being provided in an adequate and efficient manner, guaranteeing the comfort of the users.
