The State began 2026 with an action that strengthens legal security and represents an approximate economic recovery of US$1.6 million for salvadoran families, through the delivery of 156 property deeds to people who for decades lacked legal backing for their homes.
The information was provided by the minister of Housing, Michelle Sol, who highlighted that this delivery benefits families from 37 housing developments located in 11 departments of the country, many of whom waited up to 41 years to obtain the document that legally certifies the property they had already paid for.
“Today we are delivering 156 deeds to families who have been waiting 41 years for this legal document”, saidmMinister Sol, noting that this action restores peace of mind and legal certainty to households that for years lived in uncertainty.
The official explained that the total amount released to the families is approximately US$1.6 million, representing the value of the lots that now have legal backing. “We are now returning that to salvadorans with a document that recognizes them as owners”, she stated.
According to the Minister of Housing, this social investment is a direct result of initiatives promoted by President Nayib Bukele, in coordination with the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) and other state institutions, to restore the rights of families affected by real estate scams, such as those perpetrated by the Argoz corporation.
“I am very pleased that we are starting 2026 by providing legal security to more Salvadorans. It is incredible the confidence that the population now has in the government of President Nayib Bukele, in the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR), and in the entire state”, Michelle Sol emphasized.
One of the highlights of this distribution is its focus on gender equity, as 62% of the deeds were granted to female heads of household. The minister explained that this measure aims to strengthen women’s empowerment and ensure that women have legal security over their homes. “We are doing this to empower salvadoran women, so they feel safe in their homes”, she said.
The delivery of these deeds not only represents the return of significant economic value, but also allows families to access credit, legally inherit their properties, and make improvements to their homes, as they now have documents fully recognized by law.
“Today, US$1.6 million has been returned to families. This means they had already paid for their property, but lacked legal backing, and now they are receiving their deeds”, the minister of Housing emphasized.
With this action, the authorities reaffirm their commitment to social justice, the defense of property rights, and the reparation of damages caused by past fraudulent practices, providing hundreds of Salvadoran families with the legal certainty that was denied to them for years.
