The European Union celebrates the recognition given by the European Commission to El Salvador, which has been designated as “TAIEX Champion for the strengthening of the strategic association with Europe”.
This recognition adds value to the country’s efforts by expanding and strengthening cooperation and joint work with the European Union, as well as advances achieved within the framework of technical exchanges promoted through the TAIEX instrument.
TAIEX (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument of the European Commission) supports public administrations in approaching, applying and complying with European Union legislation, in addition to facilitating the exchange of good practices at an international level through meetings, expert missions and study visits.

In this context, El Salvador has developed technical cooperation initiatives in key areas such as transportation, digital transformation and accounting processes. Among them, highlights are the capabilities on the implementation and impact of public passenger transport using cable car systems, addressed to personnel from the Ministerio de Obras Públicas y de Transporte (MOPT), as well as the elaboration of a hermanaging initiative aimed at strengthening the digital civil registration system, with the participation of the Registro Nacional de las Personas Naturales (RNPN) and the Secretariat of Innovation of the Presidency. An approach has been promoted for the exchange of good practices in the process of judgment of accounts that develops the Court of Accounts of the Republic.

The distinction was received by the El Salvador Agency for Cooperación Internacional (ESCO), the entity charged with promoting, following up and articulating the work between national institutions and the TAIEX instrument.
The European Union reaffirms its commitment to continue strengthening cooperation with El Salvador, promoting the exchange of knowledge and joint work for the benefit of shared development.
