La Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM) reported on the changes in reference fuel prices, which will be in effect in El Salvador from september 30 to october 13, 2025. The DGEHM announced upward trends for all types of fuel. The largest adjustment corresponds to diesel, with an increase of US$0.05 per gallon in all three regions of the country, while premium and regular gasoline will increase by US$0.03 per gallon.
With these changes, the reference prices per gallon of fuel are as follows:
• Central Zone: Premium gasoline will be sold at US$3.85; regular gasoline, at US$3.56; and diesel, at US$3.36.
• Western Zone: Prices will be US$3.86 for Premium, US$3.57 for Regular, and US$3.37 for Diesel.
• Eastern Zone: The highest prices are in this zone, where Premium gasoline will cost US$3.89, Regular will be US$3.60, and Diesel will reach US$3.41 per gallon.

The international factors influencing prices are:
The DGEHM justifies the upward trend due to several factors in the international oil market:
• Falling Reserves: The International Energy Agency (IEA) reported falls in reserves of oil and its derivatives, which drove international prices upward.
• Geopolitical Risk: The increased perception of risk generated by the escalating conflict between Russia and Ukraine has put pressure on crude oil prices.
• Supply Reduction: The continuous drone attacks on Russian refineries have negatively impacted international supply, affecting approximately 1 million barrels per day throughout september.

The DGEHM reminds us that these reference prices include current legal taxes, as well as contributions such as COTRANS, FEFE, and IEC. In addition, the agency continues to inspect service stations to ensure the quantity and quality of fuel sold to the end consumer.
