At a time when QLED TV technology is at the center of discussion for misleading advertising practices, Samsung reiterates its commitment to authenticity and innovation by offering QLED TVs with real quantum dot technology.

Recently, several companies have been reported to the Korean Fair Trade Commission for promoting QLED TVs that do not incorporate true quantum dots (QD technology), which could mislead consumers1. In this context, Samsung stresses the importance of verifying the technology before making a purchasing decision.
Quantum Dot, or Quantum Dots, is a new display technology awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2023. It is a display breakthrough that improves image quality by using tiny nanoparticles that produce purer, brighter colors. Unlike other methods, quantum dots allow more vivid and accurate tones to be displayed without losing intensity over time, offering a more realistic and immersive visual experience.
“Samsung has developed advanced quantum dot sheet technology, which stably controls these tiny but powerful particles to ensure that light is dispersed evenly throughout the display”, says Felipe Rabat, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Central America and the Caribbean. “This innovation enables more accurate and vibrant colors, offering a superior viewing experience. All Samsung QLED TVs are ‘real QLED’, ensuring the quality and performance consumers have come to expect from the brand”.
Commitment to safety and the environment
When choosing a QLED TV, consumers should also consider the composition of its materials. Some QLED technologies use cadmium, a carcinogenic element identified by the European Union as one of the six most harmful substances to human health and the environment. Cadmium is considered carcinogenic, as are lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB and PBDE.

Samsung has set an industry milestone by launching the first cadmium-free quantum dot TV, ensuring safety for users and sustainability for the planet, as it is harmless to the environment and can be used by consumers with confidence.
Technology that cares for the user’s vision and well-being
Additionally, Samsung Electronics has been recognized by the Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE), Germany’s prestigious electrical engineering certification institute, with the EyeCare Circadian certification for its Neo QLED and Lifestyle line Smart TVs. This certification recognizes that Samsung’s displays prioritize the visual health and well-being of the user, as it aligns with the natural biological rhythm to offer a more comfortable viewing experience.
One of the most outstanding advances is the EyeComfort mode of Samsung TVs, which automatically adjusts luminance and color temperature according to the time of day and the lighting conditions of the environment. This technology simulates natural light patterns, reducing eye fatigue during the day and promoting a more relaxing environment at night, in harmony with the body’s circadian rhythms.
VDE’s EyeCare Circadian certification covers key models in the Neo QLED and Lifestyle lines, including The Frame and The Serif. “This new certification highlights Samsung’s commitment to developing technology that supports natural circadian rhythms, promoting wellness and reducing eyestrain while delivering exceptional picture quality”, said Bayona.

Samsung invites consumers to inform themselves and compare technologies before purchasing a QLED TV. Transparency, innovation, and commitment to quality remain fundamental pillars of the brand, reaffirming its position as a leader in the TV market.
