The Dirección de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM) presented the results of the project “Certification of Professionals in Energy Efficiency in El Salvador and Panama”, financed with 400 thousand euros by the European Union’s Euroclima program. This scheme has certified 50 professionals, who are now qualified to formulate and advise on energy projects in both countries.
The project responds to the growing demand for professionals specialized in energy efficiency, a key sector for cost reduction and sustainable use of resources in industries. With this certification, it is expected that companies will be able to implement initiatives that will improve their competitiveness and, in turn, contribute to economic growth in El Salvador and Panama.
The initiative was financed through the la Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID) y la Agencia Francesa de Desarrollo (AFD), within the framework of the European Union’s commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. This international support strengthens local capacity to implement clean energy projects.
The government of President Nayib Bukele, through the DGEHM, has pointed out that this certification is a crucial step to boost the economy, as companies will have access to specialized consultants that will facilitate the implementation of innovative energy solutions. This type of project is expected to generate more jobs and investment opportunities.
Energy efficiency, as part of the National Energy Policy, also promotes decarbonization and the use of clean energy, improving the quality of life of salvadorans. With international cooperation, El Salvador is moving towards a more sustainable and prosperous future.
