El Salvador and Colombia have agreed to promote investment and business initiatives designed to expand growth opportunities for micro and small enterprises (MSEs), particularly within the industrial, agro-industrial, and tourism sectors. This topic was discussed during a meeting between El Salvador’s minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexandra Hill, and Colombia’s Foreign Minister, Omar Bula Escobar, on the sidelines of the 30th Ibero-American Summit held in Madrid, Spain.
During the meeting, both officials reviewed key items on the bilateral agenda and identified opportunities to strengthen economic and commercial ties between the two nations. Areas with investment potential include tourism, industry, renewable energy, international services, and innovation.

A key point of discussion was El Salvador’s interest in promoting projects that integrate MSEs into these initiatives, with a focus on businesses linked to the industrial, agro-industrial, and tourism sectors. This effort aims to create conditions that allow small businesses to participate in new commercial opportunities, establish business relationships, and expand their growth potential.
Incorporating MSEs into these projects also offers a chance to bolster their participation in productive activities with investment potential. Connecting with Colombian companies and economic sectors could pave the way for developing partnerships, exploring new markets, and generating business opportunities, though specific projects have not yet been detailed.

In addition to economic matters, Hill and Bula Escobar addressed cooperation on security, specifically regarding the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking. They also discussed expanding training opportunities in areas such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, aeronautics, energy, and cybersecurity.
Through this engagement, El Salvador and Colombia aim to strengthen their economic relationship and explore new avenues for cooperation that will help boost investment, trade, and the participation of micro and small enterprises in strategic sectors.
