The Government of President Nayib Bukele inaugurated, on wednesday afternoon, the Tourist Pier of the Port of La Libertad, a work that will generate more tourism and attract investment, as part of the implementation of the Surf City strategy.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the head of the Ministry of Tourism, Morena Valdez, along with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in El Salvador, Zhang Yanhui, and the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adriana Mira.
“This new tourist pier is going to be one more option for the entire salvadoran family and our international tourists. The Tourist Complex, until last october, had received more than 3 million visitors, in all La Libertad Costa there are more than 250 tourist companies and have generated more than 10,000 jobs”, Valdez assured.
The work is part of a series of infrastructures managed by President Bukele during his first administration and thanks to the cooperation of the People’s Republic of China, which include: The Biblioteca Nacional de El Salvador, which has just completed its first year; the Ilopango Water Treatment Plant, a new national stadium, which has already started its construction.
This project is in addition to the other attractions that are part of the circuit one of Surf City, which has become the most visited site by domestic and foreign tourists. The work is divided into four main areas: access bridge, which includes a ramp and bleachers; landscaped platform, where a two-level building will house a restaurant that will be inaugurated soon, rest area, beverage kiosk; also, an access bridge to reach the head of the pier.
“This pier is a good gift for the salvadoran people to celebrate Christmas and New Year; this project is an important fruit of the consensus reached between President Nayib Bukele and President Xi Jinping, during his visit in 2019, it is also the result of the joint effort of the institutions of both countries and is already another milestone in the relations between China and El Salvador, fully reflecting the friendship between the two peoples”, said Ambassador Zhang Yanhui. With this new infrastructure, the government of President Bukele continues to promote El Salvador as a safe destination to visit, invest and live, through new tourist spaces that boost the local economy and the development of the coastal area of the country, through the Surf City strategy.
