Avianca began its seasonal route between San Salvador and Chicago with three weekly frequencies for the high season of mid-year 2025, as part of its commitment to offer more and better connectivity options for its customers to one of the most important destinations in the United States.

With this direct connection between El Salvador’s International Airport and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, the airline makes available to salvadorans 1,080 seats per week in its Airbus A320 aircraft with capacity for 180 passengers.

“This route responds to our firm commitment to deliver greater access and connectivity to the more than 1.4 million salvadorans present in the United States. Connecting directly to Chicago, a city with deep cultural, social, and economic value, will allow us to continue promoting tourism and trade with El Salvador”, said Reyna Mejia, Avianca’s Director of Sales for Central America.

Itineraries of the seasonal route:
Flight | Route | Departure time | Arrival time | Frequency |
AV408 | San Salvador-Chicago | 10:25 | 16:05 | Tuesday, thursday and saturday. |

“With the route between San Salvador and Chicago, we continue to consolidate El Salvador as a key connection point in the region. This operation strengthens the relationship with our diaspora and opens more opportunities for tourism, trade, and investment”, said Federico Anliker, President of CEPA.

The opening of this route adds to the airline’s existing operation, which connects travelers between San Salvador and the United States with 12 direct routes.
