El Salvador’s Ministerio de Turismo (MITUR) has presented a very positive assessment of the recent Plan Vacación, highlighting a notable success in the influx of international tourists. MITUR head Morena Valdez led the presentation of the results, emphasizing that the figures exceeded all expectations. This success consolidates the country as a preferred tourist destination in the region.

A detailed analysis of the origin of visitors reveals that most came from neighboring countries and the north. El Salvador established itself as a key destination for travelers from the United States, who accounted for 39% of total arrivals. This percentage demonstrates the strong connection and appeal that the country has for travelers from North America, followed by 31% from Guatemala and 17% from Honduras. This flow demonstrates the strong connection and appeal that El Salvador has for travelers from these countries.
The success was not limited to the number of tourists, as the estimated number of passengers served during the period was also exceeded. The president of the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA), Federico Anliker, announced that more than 175,000 passengers were served, exceeding the initial projection of 170,000. This achievement reflects the efficiency and preparedness of the country’s infrastructure.

In addition, in terms of air operations, Anliker reported that a total of 1,530 commercial flights were operated, exceeding the target set for the holiday period. This increase in air activity is an indicator of the increase in demand to visit the country. The airport remained operational with 1,800 employees dedicated to providing high-quality service.

The combination of a solid tourism promotion strategy, efficient transportation infrastructure, and the hard work of thousands of employees has positioned El Salvador as an attractive destination. The data presented by MITUR and CEPA show that the country is on a path of steady growth in the tourism sector, attracting more visitors each year.
