The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, offered a message to the nation on the 204th anniversary of the country’s independence, highlighting the importance of security, education, and civic education as pillars of national development.

The president emphasized that the independence of 1821 marked a historic moment of courage and freedom, and underscored that his government has worked to rescue and reclaim the national identity, restoring value to the flag, the national anthem, and salvadoran heroes.
Among the most important announcements, Bukele announced that the Academia Nacional de Seguridad Pública will be named after Mauricio Antonio Arriaza Chicas, in honor of the first commissioner of the National Civil Police and his legacy of service to the country. “Every new officer who trains at this institution will remember those who gave their lives for El Salvador”, he said.
The president also emphasized the progress made in security, highlighting that El Salvador went from being one of the most insecure countries in the world to becoming the safest in the Western Hemisphere, thanks to the salvadoran model, which promotes national independence and sovereignty.
Regarding education and civic responsibility, Bukele called for the development of responsible young people and citizens with values, emphasizing that patriotism is also lived out through discipline, coexistence, and daily responsibility. “Education is not just teaching math or science; education is forming people; it is teaching respect, civic responsibility, discipline, and values”, he said.

The president concluded his message by emphasizing that independence is not just a historical event, but a daily commitment: “If everyone does their part, we will have young people who see opportunities in education and work, and who will never again return to the past of violence and suffering”.
The presidential message, broadcast on National Television, featured the participation of the educational community, highlighting the example of the students from the Centro Escolar Los Toles in Ahuachapán, who symbolize the continuity of patriotism and the formation of new generations committed to the country.
