During the 130th plenary session of the Legislative Assembly, the president of the legislative body, Ernesto Castro, announced the receipt of a proposal for a special, transitory law aimed at providing facilities for the voluntary fulfillment of tax, customs, and traffic-related obligations, as well as the payment of other fines.
The bill was received by the legislative plenary on wednesday and will be reviewed by the Legislative Assembly’s Finance and Special Budget Committee, which is scheduled to meet on monday, october 19.
According to the information presented by Castro during the distribution of correspondence, the initiative seeks to provide conditions under which certain taxpayers, or “liable parties”, may regularize their tax status, in accordance with the terms to be established by the law.
The proposal covers various types of obligations, including tax-related liabilities (payment of taxes), customs-related matters linked to foreign trade operations, as well as outstanding traffic fines and other pending sanctions.
The objective is to allow individuals or entities covered by the legislation to bring their obligations up to date by utilizing the facilities defined in the bill. However, the specific mechanisms for accessing these benefits will depend on the final content of the initiative.
Key aspects to be examined include the conditions for application, the available timeframes, and the specific obligations that may be addressed under these measures. These details will be crucial in determining the scope of the proposal and identifying the parties who would benefit from it.
The Finance Committee will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing the bill within the scope of its legislative mandate. Its scheduled meeting for monday, october 19, allows for progress in the review process; however, its inclusion on the agenda does not guarantee that it will be approved on that day.
At present, the proposal remains in the initial stage of the legislative process. For these provisions to take effect, the initiative must follow the appropriate procedure, and the Legislative Assembly must approve the regulations in the ultimately determined terms.
