The San Salvador Centro Mayor’s Office has announced the extension of the deadline for taxpayers to catch up on their property tax payments without incurring late payment interest. This measure, embodied in a Temporary Tax Relief Ordinance, will be in effect until december 31, 2025, giving citizens additional time to regularize their tax situation and contribute to the development of the municipality.

The ordinance, approved by the Municipal Council, allows taxpayers with outstanding tax debts to settle their obligations without facing late fees. For those who cannot pay their entire debt in a single payment, the mayor’s office has made it possible to establish payment plans, which may be extended with prior approval from the Tax and Cadastral Directorate.
The main objective of this initiative is to strengthen municipal finances and offer a tool to support families’ finances. The municipal administration has called on the public to take advantage of this time to regularize their payments and thus directly contribute to the financial sustainability of the capital.
