The Legislative Assembly approved reforms to the 2025 General State Budget to allocate resources to the Ministries of Health, Public Works, and Finance. The measure, supported by 56 votes, will allow for the implementation of projects focused on improving the living conditions of the population and promoting human, productive, and tourism development in the country.
The allocation of US$11,097,000 to the Ministry of Health was authorized. These funds will be transferred to Hospital El Salvador to strengthen the telemedicine program. This amount will allow for the expansion of medical consultation coverage nationwide through the hiring of medical and administrative staff, developers of the digital platform, and the payment of cloud storage services, network connectivity, and support consultancies. Computer equipment and furniture will also be acquired, and external audits will be contracted to guarantee transparency in the use of resources.
The funds originate from a US$77 million loan signed in 2023 with the Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF), earmarked for the Telemedicine Implementation Program in El Salvador. This program aims to improve access to and the efficiency of public healthcare through new technological tools.
Additionally, the Ministry of Public Works was approved to allocate US$344,917 forthe final design of the sewage system at El Palmarcito and El Sunzal beaches, as well as for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in the San Alfonso canton, Tamanique district, La Libertad department. These funds are part of the US$113.9 million loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) for Phase I of the Surf City project, which seeks to improve mobility, tourism, and environmental sanitation in the country’s coastal region.
In addition, the Ministry of Finance will receive an additional US$150 million, from two loans of $75 million each, also from CAF. These funds will be used to cover general government obligations, priority transfers, and strengthen the treasury.
With these measures, the Government seeks to continue promoting strategic projects that directly impact the population’s quality of life, access to public services, and territorial development.
