As part of the Ventanitas de Luz program, the mayor of San Salvador Centro, Mario Durán, distributed 115 pairs of eyeglasses to children and teenagers from various communities and neighborhoods in Zone 5 of the Capital District. The event took place at the former Presidential Residence in the San Jacinto neighborhood.
“It’s gratifying to be in all the districts of San Salvador Centro supporting children and youth. With the Ventanitas de Luz program, we have distributed hundreds of free eyeglasses; it’s a great benefit for families”, the mayor said.

The children benefited come from the following communities: Vista Bella 1, 2 y 3, San Patricio, Divina Providencia, Monserrat, colonia Luz, Santa Marta, Altos de Jardines, Escuela República de El Salvador, colonia Dina, colonia Aragón, El Cañito, San Rafael, colonia La Málaga, San Juan Bosco and Bello San Juan.
It is worth noting that the Central Municipality has been distributing eyeglasses in partnership with the Fundación para el Desarrollo de la Mujer (FUDEM), through the Secretaría de la Mujer y Familia, for the past four years.

Prior to distributing the glasses, specialists evaluated the recipients to determine their prescription and thus contribute to improving their academic performance and quality of life.
During Mayor Mario Durán’s administration, the Central Municipality has provided more than 6,000 beneficiaries with the Ventanitas de Luz program, which is implemented simultaneously in the districts of Mejicanos, Cuscatancingo, Ciudad Delgado, Ayutuxtepeque, and San Salvador.
