The Finance Committee approved two reports to amend Decree 140 of 1997, concerning the regulation of child support payments, and the Comprehensive Pension System Law to establish that the payment period for these benefits will be fixed, beginning on october 20th of each year.
The Finance and Special Budget Committee agreed to permanently establish that the payment of Christmas bonuses for child support and pensions will begin on october 20th of each year.
Therefore, the legislators issued two reports to amend Legislative Decree 140 of 1997 and the Comprehensive Pension System Law to give definitive status to the Special and Transitory Provisions Regarding the Payment of the Christmas Bonus and the Annual Additional Benefit.
The first amendment aims to authorize public and private institutions to withhold 30% of the Christmas bonus or other financial compensation owed to employees obligated to pay child support, and that this withholding can be made between october 20 and december 1.
This would allow children or dependents to receive the additional payment in advance, making it easier to cover their end-of-year expenses.
Meanwhile, the amendments to the other law would stipulate that the Christmas bonus and the additional annual benefit for retirees in the public and private systems be paid between october 20 and the first five business days of december.
The objective is to ensure that retirees receive these payments before the end of the year, helping to strengthen their financial capacity during a season of high expenses.
In both cases, these measures were applied temporarily this year through special provisions approved by this Legislative Assembly and generated favorable results for retirees, beneficiary families, and the national economy.
Furthermore, they streamlined the administrative processes of the institutions responsible for making the withholdings. Therefore, the aim now is to incorporate them permanently.
With these actions, the legislators continue to support the modernization of the legal framework to ensure that more benefits reach the population efficiently and promptly.
