The Defensoría del Consumidor, together with the Ministerio de Vivienda, have announced the successful recovery of US$3,494,854.41 in favor of the families benefited in three lotifications, thanks to the joint work in the Collective Cases Board of Property Deeds. This effort has resulted in 130 families from the Los Angeles, Michelle and Miguelito housing units located in the San Miguel Centro district receiving title deeds to properties they have occupied for more than 20 years.
These families had been waiting for their deeds, despite having paid the full amount of the lots. The failure to deliver these titles had left the owners in an uncertain position regarding the legality of their possessions. This resolution protects their right as consumers and secures them official ownership of their homes.
Ricardo Salazar, president of the Defensoría del Consumidor, emphasized the importance of this delivery of deeds. Salazar stressed that, despite having made the full payment of the lots, The families did not receive their titles of ownership due to failures by the leasing company Inversiones Sinaí S.A. de C.V. This situation had generated a long process of waiting and uncertainty.
The intervention of the Defensoría del Consumidor and the Ministerio de Vivienda has been crucial in resolving these collective cases, thus ensuring that families can finally have their properties to their name. This achievement represents not only a significant financial recovery, but also the restoration of fundamental rights for the citizens affected.
