El Salvador recorded 195,000 international visitor arrivals during the Holy Week season, 55% of whom came from Guatemala, cementing its position as the leading source country for tourists to El Salvador during this holiday period.
These figures reflect a positive trend in international tourism, with a strong presence of visitors from the Central American region. After Guatemala, Honduras accounts for 19% of tourists, followed by the United States with 17%, while the remaining 9% comes from visitors from other parts of the world.
The influx of international tourists during this season not only confirms El Salvador’s position as an attractive destination but also highlights the strengthening of its tourism offerings, which combine beaches, culture, cuisine, and revitalized urban spaces.

Furthermore, the number of visitors exceeds the projections set for Holy Week 2026 by 35%, indicating better-than-expected performance. This growth is linked to factors such as improved security, tourism promotion, and infrastructure development in various parts of the country.
One of the main attractions has been the Historic Center of San Salvador, which continues to stand out for its revitalization, cultural offerings, and recreational activities. This area has become a key destination for both domestic and international tourists.

Authorities note that the influx of foreign visitors boosts sectors such as retail, transportation, hospitality, and restaurants, generating a positive impact on the local economy. It also strengthens the country’s international image as a safe destination with a wide range of entertainment options.
The growth in international tourism during Holy Week reaffirms the upward trend of the sector in El Salvador, which continues to position itself as a competitive option in the region, especially for travelers from neighboring countries seeking affordable and diverse experiences.
