The Banco Central de Reserva (BCR) reported that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for the transportation and storage sector registered the largest monthly increase among the economic activities included in the june 2016 report. The indicator rose from 119.07 points in may to 125.83 points in june, representing an increase of 6.76 points, equivalent to a 5.7% variation.
This performance significantly outpaced that of the overall PPI index, which increased from 139.16 to 139.62 points, a rise of 0.46 points or 0.3%, reflecting that the transportation and storage sector was the primary driver of the monthly increase.
In addition to transportation and storage, the BCR report shows that other economic activities also registered increases between may and june 2016. Manufacturing industries rose from 143.55 to 144.04 points (+0.3%); electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply increased from 154.07 to 154.83 points (+0.5%); and accommodation and food service activities rose from 159.06 to 159.18 points (+0.1%).

Arts, entertainment, and recreation activities increased slightly from 144.61 to 144.63 points; and other service activities rose from 123.26 to 123.28 points.
In contrast, two activities remained unchanged during the period analyzed. Water supply, sewerage, waste management, and sanitation activities remained at 123.21 points, while human health and social assistance activities maintained an index of 125.46 points between may and june.
Administrative and support service activities was the only sector to register a monthly decrease, falling from 133.65 to 133.43 points, representing a reduction of 0.22 points or 0.2%.

In the year-on-year comparison, the transportation and storage sector also showed positive performance. The BCR reported that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for this sector rose from 115.74 points in june 2025 to 125.83 points in june 2026, an increase of 10.09 points or 8.7%.
The data shows that the transportation and storage sector not only registered the highest growth between may and june 2026, but also exhibited a higher producer price level than that observed in the same month of the previous year, solidifying its position as the sector with the most significant improvement in the PPI report published by the BCR.
