El Salvador’s President, Nayib Bukele, held a meeting with Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank, during the multilateral bank’s representative’s visit to the country, in a session focused on learning about strategic projects and exploring new opportunities for cooperation and investment.
One of the central points of the visit was a meeting with representatives of the tourism sector and Minister of Tourism Morena Valdez, during which they discussed the opportunities El Salvador offers for attracting investment in this industry.
During the meeting, they analyzed the country’s conditions for promoting new tourism projects, strengthening private-sector participation, and generating economic opportunities through investments linked to the growth of this sector.

Banga’s visit allowed the World Bank to gain firsthand insight into initiatives that are part of the country’s transformation strategy, including projects related to education, technology, and health. Among these, he toured the Centro Escolar OEI en Santa Tecla, where an artificial intelligence-powered learning platform is being implemented, and the facilities of DoctorSV, the national telehealth system that incorporates digital tools to expand access to medical services.
These projects are part of areas that have attracted interest from international organizations due to their use of technology to improve the delivery of public services and generate new development opportunities.

The collaboration between the Salvadoran government and the World Bank aims to strengthen cooperation with multilateral banks and promote partnerships that will drive strategic investments in sectors considered priorities for economic growth.
The visit also represents an opportunity to showcase the country’s capabilities to potential investors and international organizations, highlighting projects in areas such as tourism, technological innovation, and infrastructure as part of the national development agenda.
