A group of 35 young salvadorans will soon travel to China to continue their academic training at universities in that country, as part of the scholarship program maintained by the Government of El Salvador with the People’s Republic of China. Beneficiaries will have access to undergraduate and graduate studies with complete coverage and training in different areas of knowledge.
Of the total selected, 29 young people will pursue undergraduate studies and six will pursue master’s programs. The scholarship recipients were recognized during a ceremony held at the Biblioteca Nacional de El Salvador (BINAES), where they shared their expectations before starting this new academic stage with their families and representatives of the institutions involved.
Among the beneficiaries is Belén Durán, 20 years old and originally from San Salvador, who will study Artificial Intelligence at the University of Shanghai. The young woman highlighted that the opportunity would allow her to specialize in the area that interests her, learn the language and acquire knowledge that she hopes to put at the service of the country after completing her training.
Adriana Ayala, 19, will continue her studies at Nanjing University of Arts. The young woman appreciated that the scholarship is full coverage and noted that this will allow her to concentrate on her academic training and obtain good results during her stay in China.
Another of those selected is Daniel Argueta, originally from San Simón, Morazán, who will study Chemical Engineering and Technology at the Harbin Engineering University. For the young person, obtaining the scholarship represents the result of the efforts made to achieve an opportunity that will allow them to expand their knowledge and professional experience.
According to the information provided during the activity, around 25 training specialties were selected by the scholarship recipients, who were admitted to 17 universities in China. The study areas cover different academic fields and will allow young people to develop specialized knowledge during their professional preparation.
With this new generation, the scholarship program has benefited to date 267 Salvadorans who have traveled to China to pursue university and postgraduate studies. The procedures are facilitated by the Agencia de El Salvador para la Cooperación Internacional (ESCO) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which provides support to applicants during the process to access these opportunities.
During the ceremony, the general director of ESCO, Karla de Palma, highlighted the importance of education and cooperation with China to expand training opportunities for young Salvadorans. The Chinese ambassador to El Salvador, Zhang Yanhui, encouraged the scholarship recipients to take advantage of their academic experience and pointed out that the knowledge acquired could later contribute to the development of the country. The advisor to the Presidency of the Republic, Raymond Villalta, also participated in the event.
