El Salvador recently participated in the Latin America Conference 2026, a key business forum in Singapore focused on strengthening economic ties with Latin America. The event provided a platform to showcase investment and trade opportunities, as well as to foster new commercial partnerships between companies from both regions.
El Salvador’s Ambassador to Singapore, Jaime López, highlighted the conference as a platform for connecting companies, investors, and strategic partners with the opportunities the country offers. The goal is to help expand economic links between El Salvador, Singapore, and other Southeast Asian markets.
According to the diplomat, the event drew participation from government officials, business leaders, chambers of commerce, investment and trade promotion agencies, and members of Singapore’s business ecosystem. The gathering aimed to generate increased trade and investment flows between Singapore, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
During the conference, López held meetings and discussions with business leaders and representatives from various institutions. He also met with Mark Lee, Chairman of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), to present the opportunities El Salvador offers for investment, trade, and the expansion of Singaporean companies.

The ambassador also took part in a session with small and medium-sized business owners interested in learning about the Salvadoran market and identifying opportunities to establish commercial ties. These engagements aim to facilitate business connections and explore potential commercial ventures between the two markets.
Institutions dedicated to facilitating business, including the Latin American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, the Singapore Business Federation, and Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI),participated in these activities. Their involvement helped bring information regarding trade and investment opportunities closer to the business community.
López explained that the diplomatic mission aims to serve as a business liaison, providing information on sectors and investment opportunities, facilitating the identification of potential partners, and guiding companies interested in establishing commercial ties with El Salvador.

Furthermore, he noted that part of this work involves promoting El Salvador’s export offerings and productive sectors to potential partners in Singapore and other Southeast Asian markets. In this way, participation in international business forums seeks to open channels for new business ventures and alliances.
The event was also attended by Santos Rivas, a Singapore-based entrepreneur from the Salvadoran diaspora, as well as representatives from EC Holdings, a company that promotes business with El Salvador.
The country’s participation in the Latin America 2026 Conference is part of broader efforts to strengthen business ties with Singapore and create new opportunities for connection among investors, companies, and commercial stakeholders from both regions.
