During the August holidays, the Instituto Salvadoreño de Turismo (ISTU) is promoting the “Buses Alegres” program, an affordable transportation alternative that allows Salvadoran families to visit different tourist destinations in the country without incurring high transportation costs.
The initiative aims to facilitate access to domestic tourism by offering trips to recreational parks, beaches, and natural areas, providing affordable prices that include round-trip transportation, making it an option for those who wish to enjoy the holiday period on a moderate budget.
For the remaining days of the holidays, the program offers various routes to tourist destinations. On august 6, salvadorans can travel to Cerro Verde for US$8.00; while on august 7, the destination will be Ichanmichen, with a fare of US$6.00.
The schedule continues on august 8 with a visit to the Ruta de las Flores with transportation costing US$8.00; and on august 9, travelers can enjoy Costa del Sol for US$8.00.
ISTU noted that trips are subject to change and that the transportation price includes round-trip transport but does not include entrance fees to tourist parks.
With this initiative, authorities seek to promote domestic tourism and provide an affordable option for more families to experience the diverse attractions El Salvador offers during one of the busiest tourist seasons of the year.
In addition to promoting recreation, the Buses Alegres program helps boost the local economy by transporting visitors to destinations where merchants, entrepreneurs, and tourism service providers find new sales opportunities during the holidays.
