The U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in El Salvador, Naomi Fellows, emphasized in a television interview that economic strengthening is one of the main pillars of the bilateral relationship between the two countries, with a focus on attracting investment, boosting trade, and expanding development opportunities, as part of the #Freedom250 celebration marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.
Fellows noted that cooperation between El Salvador and the United States is not limited to political or security issues but is increasingly focused on the economic sphere, where there is significant potential for joint growth. She emphasized that El Salvador is viewed as an important partner in the region, with the potential to integrate more actively into regional and global supply chains.

She explained that this integration represents a strategic opportunity, as the United States seeks to strengthen and diversify its supply chains with close allied countries, which opens the door for El Salvador to participate in various production and logistics processes. He added that geographic proximity is a key factor that strengthens this economic relationship.
The official also emphasized that one of the central objectives of bilateral cooperation is to promote the country’s domestic economic growth, creating more jobs and better living conditions for the salvadoran people. She noted that economic development is a key factor in enabling people to build opportunities within their own country, thereby reducing factors associated with irregular migration.

In this context, she reiterated the United States’ interest in continuing to promote investments, productive projects, and partnerships with the private sector and local stakeholders as part of a mutually beneficial strategy. She emphasized that the bilateral relationship is built on various levels, with the economic dimension being one of the most significant, alongside cooperation on security and policy matters.

Finally, Fellows reaffirmed that the relationship between the two countries has a long history and is constantly evolving, based on friendship and the pursuit of greater opportunities for growth, investment, and development for both El Salvador and the United States.
